Defense combos: Chopinator corners, Tesla buffers, Tripmine alarms
Base defense works best as a layered control path. Chopinators punish committed turns, Tesla Towers need buffered power, and Laser Tripmines are most useful as alarms or crossing beams.
The Problem
âMy traps drain power, enemies avoid them, and raids still reach the storage room.â
⥠Before You Start
đ What to Bring
Prerequisites
- Identify which entrance enemies actually use during raids.
- Separate defense power from food storage and living utilities.
- Have enough repair supplies to maintain traps after a raid.
Recommended Loadout
- Chopinator for corner damage lanes
- Tesla Tower with battery buffer
- Laser Tripmines for alarms or crossing lanes
Common Mistakes
- 1.Placing traps where enemies can stop, attack, or path around them without committing.
- 2.Powering every defense from the same branch that keeps critical storage alive.
The Problem
My traps drain power (see power system), enemies avoid them, and raids still reach the storage room.
The Solution
Place Chopinators just inside door corners and bait enemies with noise so they commit to the turn. Run Tesla Towers through batteries and sensors so they fire only when needed â each activation deals 100 Electricity damage but hits indiscriminately (including you), so equip a Glow Shard or connect a Lever for on/off control. Put Laser Tripmines at stair or knee height as low-power alarms, then stack crossing beams where enemies tend to hop over single lines. Shock Traps are extremely cost-efficient â they do NOT require external power, take 30 seconds to recharge, and 6 activations kill a Security Bot. The Portal Suppression Field upgrade on your Crafting Bench (see Crafting Bench upgrades) is your primary defense â prioritize it over trap placement.
Step-by-Step
- Watch one raid path before rebuilding the entire base defense layout.
- Place Chopinators just inside corners where enemies commit to turning instead of stopping outside range.
- Put Tesla Towers on a buffered branch so attack spikes do not shut off fridges or lights.
- Set Laser Tripmines at practical crossing height and stack beams where enemies hop over single lines.
- Repair and reload immediately after each raid while the failure point is still obvious.
Common Mistakes
- Placing traps where enemies can stop, attack, or path around them without committing.
- Powering every defense from the same branch that keeps critical storage alive.
